The discussion meeting was held in response to the invitation letter – the meeting started according to the topic and schedule. As a rights-based non-governmental development organization, BNPS, as a rights-based non-governmental development organization, organized and made grassroots men and women aware and played an active role in making relevant laws, policies, and procedures at the national level helpful for women and marginalized people. In continuation, BNPS is working with Progressive, Khagrapur Mohila Kalyan Samity (KMKS), and Ananya Kalyan Sangathon (AKS) in three hill districts on women empowerment, women leadership and gender-based violence. Besides, lobbying, advocacy work is also being done to make the traditional institutions of the Chittagong Hill Tracts gender sensitive.
A recent study was conducted in three hill districts as part of this study. Bangladesh Nari Pragati Sangha and Progressive, Khagrapur Mohila Kalyan Samity (KMKS), and Ananya Kalyan Sangathon (AKS) jointly organized the research paper presentation meeting on June 19, 2024, at 11 am in the conference room of Ashika Auditorium. Chakma Circle Chief was present as the special guest and the chief guest was also present as the chief guest Heads of traditional institutions, representatives of the Human Rights Commission and Chittagong Hill Tracts Ministry, Headmen-Karbaris, indigenous leaders, women movement leaders.On behalf of the organizing organization Freedom Fighter Mrs. Rokeya Kobir ( Executive Director) Of BNPS. Chakma Circle Chief Mr. Raja Debashish Roy presided over the inauguration ceremony while Regional Council Chairman Mr. Jatindra Bodhipriya Larma addressed the meeting as the chief guest.
On behalf of Ananya Kallan, Executive Director Mrs. Dawnai Pru Nally and Deputy Program Director Mr. Ukyasing Marma and Mrs. Sanuching Marma (Vice President) from the EC Committee, Mr. Budhijyoti Chakma, Bandarban Representative of Prothom Alo Newspaper and Mr. Anchom Marma, President of Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Commission of Bandarban District were present. There were more than 40 participants, both men and women. But most women were sure to participate.
