Organize annual activities review and planning workshop of Women Activist Forum

Ananya KallyanSangathon (AKS) formed a district Women Activist Forum was formed with the aim of reforming customary law in tribal society, promoting marriage registration, prevention of violence against women, ending child marriage, increasing the leadership of women in traditional and local institutions.This activist forum has been formed with a total of 25 women including women heads of traditional organizations, women leaders of local organizations, young women leaders, school women teachers and women development workers.

Activist Forum members hold an annual meeting at the beginning of the year. In this annual workshop, the members of the forum formulate an annual action plan by discussing in detail what activities will be conducted throughout the year, what strategy will be implemented, who will take what responsibility.

Organize monthly activities review and planning meeting of Women Activist Forum

Quarterly meetings are held as per the annual work plan. In this meeting like the annual meeting, the strategy, distribution of responsibilities, when what work will be done are discussed. A total of 3 quarterly meetings were held.

Organize sharing meetings to establish social cohesion of Women Activist Forum Members

Activist Forum members have worked for a total of 10 women victims of violence in the last 1 year to get counseling, proper treatment and legal assistance.

A workshop was organized with community members at the community level to prevent violence against women. In the workshop, it was decided to take all initiatives regarding the introduction of marriage registration.

Conducting training for women activist forum members

AKS provided training in Transformational Leadership Development for capacity building of 25 Activist Forum members in total. The training helped them understand about their rights, build up leadership among.

Conducting training for Karbaries and Headmen

AKS has provided training on skill development with the aim of smoothly dealing with the challenges of elimination of discrimination while carrying out the duties and activities of30 Karbaries and Headmen in total. The training helped them understand about their role and responsibilities.

Organize of Advocacy Workshop

AKS organized ‍a workshop with Circle Chiefs, Hill district council, Regional Council, Headmen and Karbari Associations.

In the workshop, it was decided to conduct awareness activities at the community level with the aim of preventing violence against women, stopping child marriage, promoting marriage registration, increasing the leadership of women in the traditional governance system.

Organize day observation and campaign 

International Women’s Day was celebrated on 8 March, 2022 and organized workshop as an awareness program at the community level to prevent violence against women, stop child marriage, popularize marriage registration, and increase the leadership of women in traditional governance systems and workshop was organized.

Achievements:

  • Woman Activist Forum members skill in leadership, campaign and advocacy have Increased.
  • There are 8 women candidates for Karbari posts in traditional governance system.
  • Legal assistance provided to 10 women victims of violence.
  • Headmen and Karbaris are committed to the practice of marriage registration.
  • Headman and Karbari Institute have started to established women Karbari and Women Head.

Gender Responsive Education and Skill Program in Chittagong Hill Tracts

Goal: To alleviate poverty and empower disadvantaged and marginalized women and girls in Chittagong Hill Tracts by reducing gender-based discrimination and violence and building their skills and opportunities in education and employment.

Objectives:

  • Ensuring access to quality education for children, especially girl children, in Chittagong Hill Tracts.
  • Reducing gender discrimination and violence against women and girls, children and adolescents in Chittagong Hill Tracts.
  • To create opportunities for women and girls to become economically independent and participate in the economic sector in Chittagong Hill Tracts.

Workshop on Annual Planning at Government Primary and High School Level

The workshop was conducted with a total of 15 school primary schools and 9 high schools teachers, SMC member parents and community leaders.In the workshop, the preparation of the school’s annual action plan, prevention of discrimination between women and men, child marriage, and prevention of drop of student were discussed.

Through the workshop, 364 women and 356 men have been made aware about prevention of discrimination, child marriage, and prevention of drop of students.

Annual Sport Program

Annual sports have been organized in 15 primary schools in Naikshyongchari upazila to help children keep healthy and good mind through sports, develop thinking power, mental development, increase physical ability, develop values ​​and improve quality of life.

A total of 900 students participated in sports, 450 boys and 450 girls. Prizes were given to the winning participants in the game.

Bangla Language Course

In order to remove the Bengali language problem of minority ethnic group students and make them proficient in Bengali, a total of 500 students, 241 girls and 269 boys, have been completed in 25 batches of 3 secondary schools.

Dialogue with stakeholders

A total of 640 people, 350 women and 290 men, were sensitized through awareness workshops with parent members, peer leaders, teachers, administration officials and community leaders on decent work environment, child marriage, gender based violence, sexual harassment, referral mechanism, 109 and 999.

Theatre Show Program

Theater shows have been performed to create awareness and prevent child marriage at the local or village level. A total of 1140 people including men and women have been disseminated messages on the evils of child marriage and prevention methods.

Session conducted at school level by Role Model Team

A role model team of 12 local young women leaders has been formed. Young leaders are empowered through training in leadership, diversity, inclusiveness, social cohesion, social and emotional and sustainable environment.

The young leaders delivered sessions to a total of 144 women at the community level on leadership, diversity, inclusion, equality, social cohesion, social and emotional and sustainable environment.

Role model young leaders delivered sessions to a total of 144 women at secondary school level on leadership, diversity, inclusion, equality, social cohesion, social and emotional learning and sustainable environment.

Dialogue with Civil society

Role Model Young Leaders dialogued with local cultural youth groups, community leaders, teachers on social issues especially gender based violence, prevention of violence against women and children, building strong networks and ways to prevent violence.

Annual Youth Conference

Annual youth conference is held. In the conference, young leaders presented leadership, inclusion, diversity, solidarity, social issues especially gender-based violence, prevention of vMoreover; local youth cultural teams perform dances, songs and poetry iolence against women and children, building strong networks and ways to prevent violence.

A total of 240 youth participated in the conference
